Admission essay excerpt:
“Every man, at the bottom of his heart, wants to do right. But only he can do right who knows right; only he knows right who thinks right; only he thinks right who believes right.” - Tiorio
Ever since I came across this quote from Tiorio in college, it has been an inspiration upon which I anchor and model my professional goals and life’s objectives. Throughout my education and career in social work, there have been many times when my thoughts and reflections come back to this quote and the concept of virtue that it encapsulates. Learning, understanding, knowing, believing, and acting in virtue is not something that happens overnight, but it is a process–oftentimes, a painstaking one that takes patience, determination, perseverance, and dedication.
