Louisiana Tech is also popularly referred to as LA Tech. This co-educational public research university is located in Ruston, Louisiana. As of 2009, the enrollment of Louisiana Tech is 11,289 students from different US states and more than 64 foreign countries.

Louisiana Tech University offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The University is composed of five colleges–College of Applied and Natural Sciences, College of Business, College of Education, College of Engineering and Science, and College of Liberal Arts.

Alumni

Louisiana Tech University has a good number of distinguished alumni in various fields. One of them is Billy Boner, a nuclear physicist who is head of the T.W. Bonner Nuclear Laboratory at Rice University. There is also David Templeton who is a chemist and former dean of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley. Joey Greco, the host of the television show “Cheaters,” also earned its degree from LA Tech. There are also numerous states men who graduated from the University.

Rankings and reviews

In 2010, Louisiana Tech University is designated as a Tier 2 school in the national universities category by the US News and World Report 2011 college rankings. Louisiana Tech University is also a member of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities and Carnegie Doctoral/Research University. Some of the University’s research projects are funded by Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and NASA. Louisiana Tech was hailed as number 7 in the best institution in nanotechnology commercialization by the “Small Times” 2009.
